About the 2009 Symposium
This two-day international workshop will cover controversies and innovations in the management, diagnosis and scientific investigation of vascular anomalies of the head and neck. The course is designed to address difficult clinical questions and expand upon current basic science for practitioners and researchers invested in treating patients with hemangiomas and vascular malformations of the head and neck.
The first symposium was held in Marburg, Germany in 2008. The UAMS Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is sponsoring the second symposium in collaboration with the University of Marburg, Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.
Program Schedule
The course will begin on Friday morning, October 9 and conclude on Saturday afternoon, October 10. Download the symposium program.
A reception will be held on Friday evening, October 9 at the Clinton Presidential Library.
Call for abstracts
The call for abstracts begins March 10, 2009. Conference focus will be three-fourths vascular malformations and one-fourth hemangiomas. Abstract shall be less than 250 words with specific focus on diagnosis, management and scientific investigation of vascular anomalies of the head and neck.
Abstract format shall contain the following sections:
Objective: indicating the purposes of the study,
Methods: describing material/patients and methods used,
Results: organized description of critical results from study
Conclusions: a statement outlining the importance of the study findings.
Abstracts must be submitted via e-mail at va.symposium.abstract@gmail.com.
Please provide contact information. Abstracts must be received no later than June 15th, 2009. After review of the abstracts by the scientific committee, the presenter will be informed by July 15th regarding their acceptance for oral or poster presentation. Proceedings from the symposium will be published.
Conference Registration
The early registration fee for physicians is $250.00. Early registration is due on or before July 22, 2009. The late registration fee is $300.00. The registration form can be found on the brochure listed above.
