Lisa Buckmiller, M.D.



Dr. Lisa M. Buckmiller was born and raised in Minnesota. She attended medical school at the University of California, Irvine and completed an Otolaryngology residency at the University of California, Davis. She then came to Arkansas to obtain specialty training in Pediatric Otolaryngology with an emphasis on the treatment of Vascular Anomalies as well as Cleft Lip/Palate. She was then recruited to stay on as a faculty member in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and her practice is based at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She is board certified in Otolaryngology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery as well as a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, International society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies, Association of Pediatric Otolaryngologists, Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children, and the American Medical Association. She also holds the Milton & Benjamin Waner Endowed Chair in Pediatric Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Buckmiller is the director of the Vascular Anomalies Team and was trained under Dr. Milton Waner. She treats all types of vascular malformations in children both medically as well as with surgery/laser. Her research is focused on treatment of vascular anomalies of the airway, hemostasis in surgery of vascular anomalies, as well as potential etiologies and treatment strategies in hemangiomas. Dr. Buckmiller is also very active in the area of Medical Missions and travels several times a year to underprivileged countries to perform surgery for vascular lesions as well as cleft lip and palate.
